Kirsten Hassenfed’s Dans La Lune is very much a delightful jaunt across magical realms. Lush with elaborate details yet stark in its colour scheme, this installation is simply ethereal. Abound are concatenation of stars ensconced in domes, miniature gazebos, winsome cameos aglow, translucent feminine tchotches and illuminated orbs all adorned with trimmings, crystals, curlicues and scalloped edges. Everything is handmade with extraordinary finesse from paper and intricately layered, embellished and garlanded. The entire tableau is a captivating wonderland.

A definitely witty way to recycle designer accessories!

They could have started out as an impeccable rectangular slabs (in flouro-hues or pristine white) bearing the fundamental promise of erasing inane and not-so-silly errors. But erasers are soon transformed into scruffy little lumps that are indifferently discarded. The chu-keshi eraser however is already endowed with oblique edges and thusly far likely to feel like a beloved pair of jeans or a tiny talisman.

Ah, slot this one under “Endlessly Amusing Time-Killer”. Paper Critters is an online creation tool for creating and sharing boxy digital toys. With an easy drag-and-drop editor together with various stencils and drawing tools, you can enhance the features of your toy (wacky eyebrows? yes please). You can even personalize the critter by uploading one of your own images (or sworn foes). Once completed, the critters can be shared by emailing it across or simply sending the permalink as well as adding it to a blog or website.

All creatures can be viewed in The Colony and, what’s more, you can customize creatures that already exist and give it your own spin without affecting the original. All creatures have a rating feature: Cute/Evil; Loyal or Rebel.

Finnish Design Shop: Screw Table

While designing the space for the 2007 collection of 100% Products, Nendo decided to lock the entire exhibit – furniture and all on to the wall surface. The spatial hack was intended to create attention by allowing the viewer to see the exhibit from a floor above. In addition, any visitor the booth would end being part of the exhibit by appearing to be walking on the wall of the room.

Tjep was asked by the ROC professional training school in Apeldoorn in the Netherlands to design the new reception area of the economics department.

In return, they created a space that represented the complexity and diversity of economical processes in modern society: A conference room in the shape of a factory, the origin of industrial goods; A reception desk formed by abstracted crate shapes, representing transportation; a meeting table in the shape of a five meter long key, representing real-estate but also a world of opportunities for graduated students; Stools as calculator buttons, numbers being the language of economics; A table football game with it’s scaled down stadium, representing the economics of leisure; And finally, at the center of the floor design we find a student with a huge heart, a little reminder that the heart should be the starting point of economic decisions.
