When the average person travels 7,400 miles a year, it is easy to appreciate why a Muslim might invest in the ‘Sajadah 1426’. Muslims pray five times daily towards the direction of Mecca, and whilst a plethora of gizmos and gadgets, not least the humble compass, can come in handy for the job, Soner Ozenc has designed an all-in-one solution.
Using Electro Luminescent Printing technology to create the ‘Sajjadah 1426’. It indicates the direction of Mecca via a compass module embedded inside the prayer rug. The closer to the direction of Mecca it is turned, the brighter the patterns illuminate. In case you’re wondering 1426 is the year 2005 in the Islamic calendar and ‘Sajjadah’ means prayer rug in Turkish.

That’s great… :-)

so the rug can only show direction in the dark… what does someone do if he / she wants to know the direction in daylight?
