Name: Bling Bling medallion
Client: Chi Ha Paura…?
Materials & measurements: Silver alloy / gold plated – 8×9 cm
Price: Euro 400
Frank Tjepkema quiet cheekily writes: “Imagine the money you can save on brand clothes by wearing just this item”
After all, this medallion, the recent winner at the 2004 Dutch Design Awards, has to be the most branded object in the world with layers upon layers of gold plated logos.
The Bling Bling medallion is part of Thingness, a body of work planned by Tjepkema, where the main objective is to explore the social behavior of things.

Also, by Tjepkema is a concept mall/building (pictured above) called “The Next Bling” which is a lifesize version of the medallion. (video)

Yo. I’ve got an idea. How about you not allow the word “*” to appear on your fucking web site (comment 1.)?

Blingingest bling that ever blinged.
Here’s a link that been doing the rounds for the last weeks or two. I’m not much into blingbling jewelery, but if I had to wear one item, this would be it. [object HTMLImageElement]...

Anyone else notice the “meta-brand”?
I don’t think it’s coincidental that it’s in the general shape of a cross, so the consitutent branding, when combine, grow to a brand that’s greater than the sum of its parts.
I honestly can’t believe no one has mentioned the ultimate brand, one of the most successful marketing campaigns of all time, the Cross™.

Mr.Tjepkema has tounge-in-cheek shown in an artistic manner the cross of gold commercialism that some people willingly nail themselves to. We can do without the racist comments. But to the brothers I say this: Substance not flash is the true mark of a man. All that bling-bling is saying is I’m worth whats on my chest and fingers. Is that really all you are worth? Isn’t there more inside you?
