This reminds me of those Sci Fi flicks where scientists develop a self sustaining robot that they release and forget and then it comes back to haunt them. The closest one i can think of is Mimic even though it used a mutated bug instead of a robot.
Anyway, Chris Melhuish and his team of robotics experts at the University of the West of England in Bristol have taken another step towards creating autonomous robots that they could “release and forget” by developing a robot called “EcoBot II” that not only catches flies by using a stinking lure concocted from human excrement, but digests them in a special reactor cell that generates electricity.
